EROP
The
Engineering Research Outpost Project (EROP) represents an expansion of
the previously existing EROR/1 and EROR/1A projects, which was
restricted to members of the Engineering Department of Region 01 of
Starfleet International. Its purpose is an attempt to provide Starfleet
Engineers with a safe locale to conduct research and development on a
wide ranging variety of projects.
Since
it was envisioned that some of the research could be of a dangerous
nature, the original EROR/1 project was initiated in a system centered
on a yellow star known as Zayin 6, which is orbited by two small
planetoids. The largest, K-395, was a Class K, a warm planet, it was
suitable for supporting life within pressure domes.
The
qualities of K-427 are similar, but with gravity 2/3’s that of Earth, a
steady temperature of 33.4 degrees Celsius, more ground water, some
saltwater oceans and the beginnings of small forests. There is also
greater geological variety, with more minerals in the soil, as well as
a greater oxygen content in the air, making it possible to survive
outside for longer periods without a pressure suit, though use of such
a suit is still recommended.
The Engineering Research Outpost Project
(EROP) is operated under the authority of the Starship Engineering and
Design Group (SEDG), a independent consulting group serving Starfleet.
With the assistance of Starfleet, this organization will maintain
centralized communications, security force and computing facilities as
needed by the client projects. This is not to say that the individual
projects should not provide such facilities of their own, as doing so
will undeniably be more efficient in the long run.
To
participate, you can download the needed documents at right, including
the maps for the currently available surveys. Simply download the Land
Request Form.doc from the files area and send it back to the
adminstrator using the link at right. He will contact you back
about proceeding as soon as possible, usually in a day or two.
After
that begin your development of your plot and keep reporting in.
For every report, you get more land. That’s how things can
snowball very quickly.
It’s fun,
it’s imaginative, and it is perfect for us Star Trek Tekkies. So
come along with EROP as we continue to go “Where no one has gone
before.”
Starfleet
Corps of Engineers has completed an additional 16 surveys. In
addition to the original 9 survaeys, we now have a grand total 25 maps,
for a grand total of over 120,000 acres, containing mountains, hills,
new and old forests, fresh and salt water, rivers, lakes, seas,
geysers, volcanoes and more to come!
