U.S.S. Indiana NCC-79158

The Pride of The Hoosier State!

Engineering

The Chief of Engineering is responsible for the ship from a engineering and maintenance standpoint.  Well, at least on a real ship.

Here, it is a little bit more imaginative.  The Chief of engineering can, if he so chooses, create drawings for the ship and it's auxiliary craft, or may be called upon to do more practical things, like design and build props or table displays to help in recruiting drives.  As the principle technology person currently on the ship, he also performs the role of Chief of Comp Ops, maintaining the ships computer files, Yahoo Groups Email list, and this website.  He may also consult with the rest of the crew on their computers, or their duties on the ship in this capacity.

In addition, the Chief of Engineering will report monthly to the Executive Officer as well as Regional Department Chief for Engineering.

Currently, the Chief of Engineering is Captain Jeff Davis.  In addition, Capt. Davis is director of the independent engineering forum called the Starship Engineering and Design Group, or SEDG.  As a part of that, he also administers the Engineering Research Outpost Project (EROP).

The Indiana has a project going on EROP known as the G.E.O.R.G.E. Project.  To see what is up, click on the link to the right.
